Rose Group update

On 25 May, members of the Alliance Committee met with Bryan Rose of Rose Group to present the results of our community survey and the community meeting held last month. We had a good discussion about community views across the issues covered in the survey.

At the meeting, we learned the following developments:

·       Rose Group has informed Council that it will not be pursuing any hotel development either on the Headland or a rehabilitated Jetty.

·       Rose Group is now moving ahead to complete the works required for the subdivision of the Headland residential lots.

·       In tandem with these works, the retail shop will progress according to the current planning approval for size and location. A 'general store' concept is envisioned and Bryan expects to have plans ready to share in the next 4-6 weeks. An issue being discussed with Council is the number of off-street parking spaces located at the retail precinct.

·       The village park is expected to be completed in February/March 2024.

·       Rose Group has presented plans for the Coastal Walkway to Council. This will also be completed as part of the Headland works and will include a larger grass recreation area.

·       Bryan welcomed community suggestions on what to do with the Bin Building site on the Headland, which will continue to be owned by Rose Group.

Overall it was a very productive meeting with some very encouraging news for our community.
