Clean Up Australia Day 2nd March 2025

Clean-up Australia Day is on this weekend!

Pick up a bag and gloves next Sunday morning down at the Surf Club (Pat Slaven Reserve) and spend an hour or so gathering rubbish at the beach, in the bush or around your street. It's a great outdoor community event and we always collect a huge amount of rubbish. Let's keep Catho beautiful! From 7:30 am onwards 2 Sunday March.

In other news...

Our stunning new Village Park has now taken shape and is already a popular destination, even though it's not yet open to the public while the finishing touches are being made. We are expecting to hear from the Council on the official handover from the developer and opening of Hale Street in the next few weeks. We plan to organise a community picnic in the park soon after to celebrate, most likely toward the end of March. If you would like to help organise this event please let us know (by response to this email or contact Jennie McGhie or any of the Alliance Committee members).

There have been a lot of suggestions about facilities that people would like to see in the new park, ranging from shade, toilets, exercise stations, community gardens and more! It is important to understand that the developer has provided what was required in the original State planning approval, so any additional facilities can only be considered by Council once the park is handed over to them. The Alliance plans to run a park facilities survey once people have had a chance to use the park for a few months, so that we can provide informed feedback to Lake Macquarie Council on our top priorities. So keep your ideas coming as you take advantage of this wonderful new community facility.

CPR /Defib Training - 6 sessions available

The Catherine Hill Bay Community Alliance proudly announces a CPR / Defib Training event on the 7th September at the Catho Surf Club.

Please book online to book a 1 hour slot for you and your family members

to learn these ESSENTIAL LIFE SAVING SKILLS

This training is a non – accredited course HOWEVER it will be delivered by a highly experienced and well renown Westpac Rescue Helicopter Paramedic  with some help from other experienced Paramedics and other Emergency Services Personnel. An equivalent course would cost $55.

Entry to the training will be via a tax deductable donation (which includes the service fees). Additional donations can be made to the Catho Alliance Community Group on the day.

At what price would you pay though if you learnt what it took to literally save someone who was having a cardiac arrest / heart attack.

The CHB Community Alliance is aiming  to raise $7,000 to enable 2 more community defibs for our suburb.  These will add to the existing 3 defibs we already have which will further add to the prestige CHB has by leading the way across Australia for community led life saving efforts.

Check out the QR code as well to become a GoodSAM member of our Catho community.
