Update on Village Park

Representatives of the Alliance and the CHB Progress Association met with Rose Group on 4 December.

Community liaison meetings are required under the Beaches project approval conditions; it is the intention these meetings are to occur monthly for the duration of the works which have an expected completion date of June 2024.

The project scope includes

o   Village Park

o   Reconstruction of Hale Street

o   Headland reserve

o   40 lot residential subdivision

 

Project status 

o   Works commenced 3-4 weeks ago under supervision of Auditors and Geotech specialists

o   Current focus bulk earth works and land clearing

o   Removal of trees now complete

o   Berms and sediment controls to control runoff being constructed

Approval and Certification process

o   Landscape and stormwater design not yet approved by Lake Macquarie Council (LMCC); approval expected soon

o   Final plans will be shared with community once approved

o   Once works completed will hand over to LMCC; 5-year maintenance obligation on village park and 1 year on streets.

 

Design Details                    Village Park

o   Majority of village park will be subject to fill

o   Riparian zone below the pond

o   Gross pollution trap in pond on high side, wire rope around pond (similar to existing ponds in Beaches)

o   Park playground “natural play” low key construction timber blending into landscape with benches, bike racks

o    No picnic tables or BBQs

o   Village green footpaths will be concrete southern end, others crushed stone

Hale Street

o   Hale Street being moved slightly east of current location

o   Street will be 9 metres wide, parking on western side only; no cycle way; no speed humps however will have a curved design

o   Intersection of Hale and Flowers/Lindsley to be constructed April/May 2024

o   Street lighting approved; pole type same as beaches
